It’s so funny because before I moved to DC, I used to think the weather in Atlanta was crazy. I really had no idea!
This past weekend it went from 30 degrees and snowing to 80 degrees and sunny. I feel like as soon as I start getting into spring mode, the weather decides to play a prank on me and then goes back to being freezing.
ANYWAYS. All that to say…when I shot these photos the temperature was starting to drop again, so I was actually FREEZING and laughing/crying from how cold I was. But in anticipation of warmer weather to come, I think this is a fun little casual spring outfit that you could wear to run errands or grab coffee on a Saturday morning.
Last weekend, I hosted a bunch of friends who were in DC, and I feel as though I’ve had an event or activity every night since then. Do you ever have those seasons in life where you just feel like things are going a million miles a minute? Needless to say, I’m so ready to just catch my breath and take some time for myself.
Not to mention, this weekend will be very cold and rainy so it seems like the perfect time to stay in, make muffins, have a solo spa night and catch up on my favorite TV shows (This Is Us or Riverdale anyone?!). I think sometimes, especially being young and living in the city, it can become easy for me to constantly feel like I “should” be doing something or going out…and sometimes, it’s so good for me to just sit back for a moment and remind myself that if I take an entire weekend and do nothing, that is MORE than okay.
If you feel like your life is going faster than you can handle, I would encourage you to intentionally block out some time where you can really rejuvenate and have a few moments for yourself. If you’re anything like me, I think I often feel like if I’m not accomplishing something or learning something or seeing something, then I’m missing out or wasting my time. But I have found such simple joy in quiet moments where I light a candle and spend time journaling, watching a great movie, having a spa night or cooking myself a nice little dinner.
^^^Also….interrupting to bring you my fav polaroid of all time.
If it’s been a little while since you pampered yourself, I challenge you to do it! You not only feel better, but you will be more ready to take on the challenges of a new day.

Hey Emily, I love your denim on denim (on denim) outfit!
Do you, by any chance, have any blog posts about DC? I’m visiting for the first time next month and will be there for a while, so any tips and recommendations from locals are super welcome! 🙂

Marta,
Thanks for your comment! And I am currently working on a new series that highlights some of my favorite places in DC! However, if you’re looking for museums, I would recommend the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space, and the National Gallery of Art. The Lincoln and Washington monuments are always great and I would definitely recommend going to the WWII Memorial at night – it’s beautiful with all of the fountains! Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria are SUPER cute – great for shopping and cupcakes (definitely stop at Baked & Wired if you get the chance!). For markets, Union Market and Eastern Market are fun – lots of local food shops and vendors – definitely a must-see for lunch in the city! Hope this helps! <3
Lovely outfit, it’s perfect for spring! The blue really suits you and I love the cap too! And tell me about crazy weather, I’m in England looking forward to spring but apparently snow is on its way again!

Denim is my favorite for spring so I can’t wait for it.
Love the camera.

Ohhhh candles are my favorite too! Definitely a necessary part of relaxation!
You are speaking my language with this post. I know, on my blog, I’m usually wearing pink or bows, but in my real life, with two very young kids, I’m very often in a chambray button down and a hat. Totally my casual style!

Thank you so much!
I totally agree that it’s so so important to find a balance between work life, social life and relaxation time! Also, the weather in D.C. sounds just like the weather here in Kentucky. You can seriously experience all four seasons in one day!

Thanks Keri – you’re so sweet! <3
Such a cute outfit! I’m in love with the bright colors and denim. A great casual yet cute look for everyday. Minnesota has been still very cold lately, which makes outfit photo shoots a little less fun to do.

I love how coordinated everything is! I mean, your outfit, of course, but also the polaroid and the storefront! >> nexxxt level << Man, February has really been a busy busy month. It's like everyone tries to cram everything in, and the month was already short to begin with! Thankfully I just got off for spring break (of course, the first thing I do is make a hot chocolate and catch up with blogs), so I’m looking forward to a slower week ahead. // Also yes, crazy weather. We had two bEAUTIFUL spring days and then the snow took over. Hoping for more beautiful spring days ahead! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Nice and perfect looking outfit..
