I’m a huge sucker for a cute coffee shop. Anybody with me on this? Honestly, the coffee could be sub-par, but if the vibe is great, I’m all in!

Well, you’re in luck because I think I have officially stumbled upon the CUTEST coffee shop in all the land and it just so happens to be in DC. Whether you live here or you’re just visiting town, Bluestone Lane should DEFINITELY be on your list of photo worthy brunch/coffee experiences in the city.

Bluestone Lane actually describes itself as an “Aussie” coffee shop, which is evidenced by the fact that they serve Vegemite toast (not for me haha!), call it “brekkie” instead of brunch and my waitress referred to be as “babe.” I felt like I had ventured out of the political DC landscape to the great “down under” where everyone is happy and carefree.

However, the overall aesthetic and vibe of this place is what truly defined it for me. The expansive windows go from floor to ceiling allowing sunlight to filter in and encompass the entire room. The interior has an earthy feel with lots of pretty plants peppered throughout and the white/minimalistic environment punctuated by the blue/green accents was simply perfect. I am especially in love with the leaf wallpaper above the counter – it really added so much character and personality to the environment. If you’re looking for a CUTE brunch, Bluestone Lane has you covered.

My one criticism is that the menu is a bit overpriced. I felt that $14 for a slice of avocado toast seemed a bit excessive – although they DID pile on the avocado and it WAS amazing. However, I don’t think this would be an “every weekend” breakfast destination. Perhaps when you want to impress someone or make it into a special occasion. Even though my bill ended up being a bit overwhelming when it was all said and done, I walked away with no regrets because it was JUST. THAT. GREAT.

We ended up ordering the avocado smash and the baked eggs. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. I felt that the portions were large enough to be satisfying and the menu options were all very healthy! The coffee was also excellent, not to mention beautiful (which was the main reason I ordered it, not gonna lie here).

So, as long as you are aware of a potentially high price tag, I think you will fall in love with this place as much as I did. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a sunny weekend morning or afternoon and I can guarantee that you’ll walk away with a little extra happiness and a whole lot of cute Instagram pics. 🙂

    Ooh, this is one seriously dreamy coffee shop – the natural light flooding in from those floor-to-ceiling windows is stunning! Also kind of loving the leaf-printed wallpaper haha!

    Wow the vibes of this place! I would visit just so I can take pictures of the aesthetics! I just visited a cafe that charged $12 for avocado toast and thought that was expensive. $14 is def… mmm pricey! Love this post though <3

    I’ve been to the Bluestone in Philly before, and of course I made a blog post about it too 😉 (If you want to check it out, you can check it out here!) I also got the avocado smash, as well as an Aussie Iced Chocolate, both of which were delicious. You’re right about the price though! Avocado toast is so trendy and served at almost every cafe, but avocado toast is actually pretty easy to make at home, so I try not to get it when I’m eating out, unless I’m at a new place and I want to see how good their avocado toast is 😛 Also loving Bluestone’s leafy wallpaper in DC!     Oh yum, looks like such good food! I love avocado on toast for brunch, although I’m not like my kids and hubby, I can’t stand Vegemite, haha!

    Nice to see an Aussie café doing well in the US, next time try vegemite I tell you they know how much to put so it will be nice. I also didn’t like vegemite at first but there is a trick when putting vegemite on toast to make it eatable and nicer. Good to see this post and have a fun weekend.
